Serving Orange and Osceola Counties

Alan has dedicated over twenty seven years to serving our community. He is a life long Floridian. Alan received his Juris Doctorate law degree from the Nova University Shepard Broad Law Center (1993) and Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry with Minors in Computer Science and Fine Art from the University of Miami (1989).

Prior to being elected as your Circuit Judge in 2002 Alan was a well respected prosecutor and civil litigator. As a practicing lawyer he first chaired more than 100 jury trials and countless non-jury trials. Since taking the bench he has presided over more than 100 jury trials including over 20 murder cases. He also had the privilege of serving as an Associate Judge at the Fifth District Court of Appeal (5th DCA).

Outside of the legal profession Alan has dedicated himself to serving our community through various charitable and voluntary organizations. Alan is a huge sports fan who loves football, basketball, baseball, fishing, golf, and soccer. He keeps in shape by running and spinning. Throughout the years he has coached youth soccer, mentored our youth, mentored our young lawyers, and assisted our seniors through a variety of local non-profit organizations and activities.

Alan, besides being well respected locally as a Circuit Judge and lawyer, represents our community throughout the State of Florida by serving in leadership positions with the Florida Conference of Circuit Judges for the last twelve years. He presently serves as one of the four officers, having been unanimously elected in 2018 by all 600 members. Alan is also a frequently requested speaker and instructor. Throughout his 18 years on the bench he has taught and mentored his fellow local and statewide Circuit and County Judges and lawyers on a variety of legal topics including ethics, criminal law, evidence code, family law, domestic violence law, and expert witnesses. He has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1993. Locally, Alan is a member of the Orange County Bar Association (OCBA), Central Florida Association for Women Lawyers (CFAWL), and Central Florida Family Law Inn (CFFLI).

Alan is who is today because of his parents, Stanley and Laura.  They were born during the Great Depression into blue collar families.  Stanley’s father was a truck driver and mother was a maid.  Laura’s father was a mechanic and mother stayed at home to raise her and her sister.  Times were tough for both of them.  At age five, Stanley’s mother was left to raise him and his disabled brother alone when his father was killed.  Laura’s parents struggled financially when her father could no longer work as a mechanic.  Alan’s parents were the first in their families to graduate college and receive post graduate degrees. Stanley received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Florida and Juris Doctorate law degree from New York University. He served as an officer in the U.S. Army Air Corp and U.S. Air Force during Korea and Vietnam and was a well-respected lawyer for over 60 years.  Laura received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from the University of Miami and Masters in Education from Barry University.  She taught for 30 years in elementary, junior high, and high school.  They both instilled in Alan from a young age that education and hard work is the secret to success and independence.
